Crucial in the battle is the necessity for us men to change our fundamental attitudes and relationship to them. The women are not passively leaving us to transform ourselves. Through persuasion, coercion and struggle we are being changed by them. The liberation of men is indeed going hand in hand with that of women. I have been won over to their cause. Therefore as an ally, I don’t consider it strange that I should try to contribute to a change in the awareness of other men. Which is what I have attempted to do in these photographs. They are also an act of redemption on my part; to render women the dignity and importance that they have been deprived of in the past. The making of this portfolio has also been an educational process for me. They express much better than words what I felt and discovered about them. I would just like to say that I find women to have many of the characteristics of the exploited; great patience combined with smoldering inner resentment, great empathy for the troubles of other people. I also found that the repression of their human rights makes them in their defiance of such treatment, all the more majestic as human beings. Finally I am in awe (quite humbled) by their often double responsibility of motherhood and having to realize their pcien? . - 'dividual.
